Welcome to the Broadstairs Dickens Players website.  We are a longstanding local adult drama group who perform in Thanet and the surrounding areas.  We welcome new members of all ages and abilities, whether you want to strut your stuff on the stage, or prefer to work backstage.  Help with props, scenery, production work and new directors are also always welcome.

Meanwhile, if you would like any more information, or are interested in joining us, please contact Sue on info@broadstairsdickensplayers.co.uk

BDP are holding a play reading of the script that we are hoping to produce in October at Sarah Thorne Theatre in Broadstairs.  It is called 'After Electra' by April De Angelis.  A moving black comedy that reimagines the meaning of family.

'Today is Virgies 81st birthday and she has reached the end of a line. An acclaimed abstract artist, Virgie has enjoyed life, “had a good innings”, done everything she wanted. But now, she tells her 50 something-year-old daughter Haydn, “my eyes aren’t getting any better. My hands – can’t hold a brush. I don’t want to go gaga”. Virgie insisting she will die (“I’m not doing this thoughtlessly, I’ve googled it”); the others declaring she must not.. . . . . an emotional tug of war between family, friends and a very determined matriarch.'

Please note that this is a reading and NOT an audition.  Hopefully this will give you a taste of the play to see if you would like to audition.  It is being directed by Brigitte Rennie, who may be familiar to some from the Mosaic Cat performances at Sarah Thorne Theatre and other venues.

The reading will be held at our secretary Miranda Peacock's house on Monday 20th May at 8pm.  Please e mail info@broadstairsdickensplayers.co.uk for further details  I should mention that the script contains strong language and adult humour.

All details passed to us will only be used to contact you about  Broadstairs Dickens Players directly, and will not be sold or passed onto any other business or group.
