APRIL 2015

'The Children's Hour' by Lillian Hellman, was one of our most successful productions and was entered into the Kent Drama Festival.

Starring well known local actors such as Jo Slater, Sam Grant and Lydia Crosher, it tells the story of two women running a school for girls in 1930's.  Their lives are ruined by a malicious student spreading lies about them, and illustrates the effects of lying, rumour and community paranoia.  When the play was first published it was considered so shocking, that it was banned in London and many places in America

We were delighted to welcome several new, young members to BDP who performed in their first roles for us.  The play was adjudicated for the Festival and we were delighted to win the following awards:

Lydia Crosher - Best Young Player

Ian Crosher - Best Actor in a Cameo Role  (what a talented family!)

Jo Slater - Runner-up in the Best Actress category

Runner-Up for the Kent Youth Award

Special mentions for Sam Grant in the Best Actress category,  for Liz Diggens as Director and also for the Wardrobe Department.
